Middle Ages Clothing
General information:
In the middle Ages most peasants wore woollen clothing, with underwear made of linen. Peasants wore plain mud or cream colours as they didn't have money to buy fancy and bright coloured clothing. Whereas more vibrant and better quality clothing was a sign of the wealth you had. Nearer the end of the Middle Ages, rich Lords sported hose and a jacket, often with pleating or skirting, or a tunic.
Most of the religious men wore long woollen outfits in competition of Roman clothing. One could tell the order by the colour of the clothes worn; the Benedictines wore black and the Cistercians wore un-dyed wool or white. St. Benedict stated that a monk's clothes should be basic but comfortable and they were permitted to dress linen coifs to keep their heads warm.

Rich women's clothes:
Women in medieval times often wore;
-Long coats that trailed on the ground, in colours of mainly reds or dark royal colours,
-When they wore hats it was embroidered or trimmed with lace,
-The undergarments, which only showed it through awkwardly-forced openings, displayed the outlines of the figure to their advantage,
-The outer corset was invented, it was like a short layer; falling down in front and behind without obscuring any of the fine outlines of the figure. This new item of women's clothing was kept in its place in the middle of the chest by a steel net covered in some rich lace-work; it was commonly made of fur in winter and of silk in summer,
-Jewels were often worn to show off how much money they had and how noble they were.
